YSL All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation, BD30 Warm Almond, $58

This foundation launch created so much buzz in the beauty world. After I heard about 20 people raving about this, I knew I would cave and purchase it. At the steep price, I had high hopes. Honestly, this foundation is pretty great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone with combo to oily skin. If you are dry, stay clear. This foundation will show any dryness you have and exaggerate it. I have normally oily skin, but I did have some dryness around my nose where I experienced this happening.

I apply 2-3 pumps onto my foundation brush. I find that using a synthetic foundation brush gives a better application than a Beauty Blender. I focus the majority of the product in the center or T-zone on my face and spread it towards the outer edges. This is a full coverage formula but it does not look cakey or heavy at all. It is buildable, but I found that one layer or application is enough. Even though it is matte, I always have to set my foundation. I use Make Up Forever's Microfinishing Powder to set my foundation all over. This foundation covers any imperfections lessening the need for concealer. It provides a very velvety matte finish that isn't drying to oily-combo skin. However, if you do not have oily skin and more normal skin-I would actually recommend you not setting as the foundation is a true matte finish.

YSL makeup packaging is always very luxe and this glass pump bottle is no different. I absolutely cherish when brands use a glass bottle for their foundation. The frosted glass is a nice touch as well.

The one thing that really stands out to me is the scent of this foundation. I personally don't need or like a fragrance in foundation. I find that it sometimes irritates my skin or makes me breakout. THANKFULLY this did not happen with this formula. The foundation is not too liquidy but has a water-like weightless feeling. I know the bottle says matte finish, but I do get oily with this foundation within the first 4 hours. This is unfortunate but I will continue to use it because of the finish and coverage it provides.
