Lime Crime | Review
I must admit Liquid lipsticks have taken over the makeup world. From drugstore to luxury, every color brand has there own liquid lipstick. I have tried NUMEROUS versions and have been disappointed with the results on me. I feel like 5 minutes after I apply a liquid lipstick, I want to immediately remove it because my lips are either burning or my lips look 100 years old. However, I continue on this liquid lipstick journey.
For the first time, I have found one that I can wear for at least 4 hours without any transfer or severe dryness. *Insert angels singing* Lime Crime Matte Velvetines has become the new IT product for my lips. With 40 shades to choose from, I thought I would go outside my comfort zone and pick up a darker more moody color, Saint. (FYI, this cranberry shade makes your teeth look very white.)
LIME CRIME MATTE VELVETINE, SAINT, $20.00
I first apply a lip balm and blot it off with a tissue. I find that doing this helps decrease exaggerated lines on my lips. No matter if my lips are dry or not, I always do this step. I apply Saint directly onto my lips with the doe foot applicator. However, if you have a lip brush, this would be greatly helpful to make the edges of your lips more precise with color.
This product has a very typical lip gloss or liquid lipstick packaging. The doe foot applicator is small enough to apply product to the corners of your lips. Like I said earlier, if you do have a small lip brush you can use this for application as well. For myself, I find using the doe foot is simpler for me.
Comparing this to other popular liquid lipsticks, (Anastasia Beverly Hills, Kat Von D, Huda Beauty), I found this formula had more of a watery consistency. What this means to me is that a little product will go a long way and you do not need to keep dipping the wand and reapplying. I have also found that while this product does dry down it does not dry out. Obviously it isn't as moisturizing as a lipgloss or balm, however, it doesn't my the skin on my lips peel *cringe*.
I hope you enjoyed my little liquid lipstick review (and slight rant).
