Winter Skin Savers
Winter weather can be quite enjoyable if you are well prepared. Growing up in Chicago, I faced the heavy snow falls and ice rain, (the worst) that wasn't so much fun. Since moving to Los Angeles a couple years ago, my skin has become drier. Age could be a factor or that I don't drink enough water (oopsies), but thankfully I have found some goodies that have me covered.
Starting off with your hands. Your hands can be just as neglected as your feet. They are so important to take care of, especially when it's super cold outside. This Ever Light Beam Hand Repair Cream is super luxe. The best part about this hand cream is that it has an SPF of 18. This invisible SPF hand cream is non-greasy, easily absorbed, and has been a handbag staple the past few months. If you have some age spots on your hands or are looking to protect your paws, this is a goodie.
This guy comes in all shapes and sizes for whatever part of your skin that needs moisture. Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream can be used on your face, body, hands, and lips. Made in Japan in 1957, this cream is for anybody. I use this on my extra dry areas like my elbows, heels, and knuckles. It contains Sodium Hyaluronate, a humectant, that locks in moisture while it heals those dry parts fast. It does have a camphor scent, but it dissipates within 10 minutes from application.
This is hands down one of my favorite lip treatments. No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil actually heals your parched pout. I am an avid user of chapstick and other lip balms, but they were just not cutting it for me. I was looking at Blue Mercury at the beginning of December and stumbled upon this gem. It is a gel like formula that disperses from a gold tipped applicator. The gold tip applicator is cool to the touch and provides a sanitary application. I use this once in the morning as I am getting ready and don't need to reapply throughout the day. I am able to wear my super matte liquid lipsticks without fear of over-drying my lips.
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre instantly heals any rough or dry patches you have. This moisturizer is good for all skin types (I have used this in the summer as well when I'm oily). I use this as a fuss-free primer. It absorbs very nicely and has a velvety finish. If you are looking for something rich but don't want the weight, this will suit you perfectly.
I discovered Micellar Cleansing Waters about four years ago. I used to only use makeup removing wipes before washing my face to get rid of makeup. I first tried out the trusty Bioderma one which blew my mind. I didn't have to tug on my skin or eyes to remove makeup like I had to with wipes. Looking for a drugstore option that I could find at my local Target, I found Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water. This rinse-free micellar water lived up to my Bioderma standard but for a fraction of the cost. The micellar technology removes all the dirt/makeup/oil from your skin without stripping it of it's natural moisture barrier. When you are suffering from dry skin, a micellar water is a must.
